Preaching goodness: Angel

When you do kind deeds, be like an angel,
So that people will thank God.

Angels are our oldest friends, but Adam stopped walking humbly before God and left the house of his Creator and Father. In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth (Gen 1:1) — so begins the Old Testament of Scripture. "Heaven" is most often understood to mean the whole variety of angelic spiritual, immaterial ranks and worlds. Angels are older than men and this is what God shows man when he asks him: Where were you when I founded the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. Who determined its size; do you know? Who stretched out the measuring line for it? Into what were its pedestals sunk, and who laid the cornerstone, While the morning stars sang in chorus and all the sons of God shouted for joy? (Job 38:4-7). There is nothing left for man but only to do right, to love goodness and to realise his sins in humility before God. People need to understand their weakness in comparison to the sons of God, the angels.

In heaven, accompanied always by angels, the Lord shows us true love for human beings and sets out to find the lost son - man. Man is called to realise his royal dignity, his dominion over the universe - in the image of the Almighty Heavenly King. And what does man say in response? Jesus Christ answers: If I tell you about earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things? No one has gone up to heaven except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man. (John 3:12-13)

By the earthly example of a guy helping his grandmother, I tried to show how a lost person can take steps to return to the family of God's children. The guy helping the grandmother did a kind deed and pointed her to the Lord. The elderly woman came home and told her daughter about the good guy. The daughter happily replied: "Mum, I have been praying to God all day that He would help you on the road. It's a miracle! He sent you an angel!". In this way, by doing kind deeds and dedicating them to the Lord, we are born angels for others. One should have a good way of life, so that not only people, but also the Lord called you an Angel. Jesus said, "I have observed Satan fall like lightning from the sky. Behold, I have given you the power 'to tread upon serpents' and scorpions and upon the full force of the enemy and nothing will harm you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice because the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice because your names are written in heaven." (Luke 10:18-20). Because the love of our neighbour and of the Lord surrounds us, if we return to God in repentance through kind deeds.

Angels doing kind deeds, like Michael the Archangel, do not pronounce a reproachful judgement before the Lord even about a fallen angel: But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, disputed about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a reviling judgment upon him, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.”. (Jude 1:9). Whatever the answer - yes, yes or no, no - they rely on the Lord in all matters and thank Him for this trial. It is a joy for us earthly men to be like the Angels in kind deeds and to receive the Holy Spirit.

Be kind and loved like Angels!
