(45) A life of suffering.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Matt 5:10)

Remember the word I spoke to you, ‘No slave is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. And they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me. (John 15:20-21)

In fact, all who want to live religiously in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. (2 Tim 3:12)

For as Christ’s sufferings overflow to us, so through Christ does our encouragement also overflow. (2 Cor 1:5)

For this momentary light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, (2 Cor 4:17)

I consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us. (Rom 8:18)

For my yoke is easy, and my burden light. (Matt 11:30)

For whenever anyone bears the pain of unjust suffering because of consciousness of God, that is a grace. But what credit is there if you are patient when beaten for doing wrong? But if you are patient when you suffer for doing what is good, this is a grace before God. For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example that you should follow in his footsteps. (1 Pet 2:19-21)

Now who is going to harm you if you are enthusiastic for what is good? But even if you should suffer because of righteousness, blessed are you. Do not be afraid or terrified with fear of them, (1 Pet 3:13-14)

If you are insulted for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. But let no one among you be made to suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as an intriguer. But whoever is made to suffer as a Christian should not be ashamed but glorify God because of the name. (1 Pet 4:14-16)

These are the ones who have survived the time of great distress; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. «For this reason they stand before God’s throne and worship him day and night in his temple. The one who sits on the throne will shelter them. (Rev 7:14-15)
