(109) Stones.

When stones are scattered,
Others can help pick them up.
And when stones are thrown at a target,
There may be no helpers.

So what do you say?» They said this to test him, so that they could have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and began to write on the ground with his finger. But when they continued asking him, he straightened up and said to them, «Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.» (John 8:4-7)

  • The Jews again picked up rocks to stone him. Jesus answered them, «I have shown you many good works from my Father. For which of these are you trying to stone me?» The Jews answered him, «We are not stoning you for a good work but for blasphemy. You, a man, are making yourself God.» (John 10:31-33)

  • I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our ancestors were all under the cloud and all passed through the sea, and all of them were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. All ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they drank from a spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was the Christ. (1 Cor 10:1-4)

  • Therefore, I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit. (Matt 21:43-44)
