(39) Desert of bodies.

Lord, in the desert of bodies, I am weary,
And only devil tempts me.
Thou hast founded the seas of the Universe,
On the rivers of the Earth, have mercy on me.

Once you were «no people» but now you are God’s people; you «had not received mercy» but now you have received mercy. (1 Pet 2:9-10)

  • For he says to Moses: «I will show mercy to whom I will, I will take pity on whom I will.» So it depends not upon a person’s will or exertion, but upon God, who shows mercy. (Rom 9:15-16)
