There an angel of the LORD appeared to him in fire flaming out of a bush. As he looked on, he was surprised to see that the bush, though on fire, was not consumed. So Moses decided, «I must go over to look at this remarkable sight, and see why the bush is not burned.» When the LORD saw him coming over to look at it more closely, God called out to him from the bush, «Moses! Moses!» He answered, «Here I am.» (Ex 3:2-4)
Mount Sinai was all wrapped in smoke, for the LORD came down upon it in fire. (Ex 19:18)
«These words, and nothing more, the LORD spoke with a loud voice to your entire assembly on the mountain from the midst of the fire and the dense cloud.He wrote them upon two tablets of stone and gave them to me.(Deut 5:22)
The LORD preceded them, in the daytime by means of a column of cloud to show them the way, and at night by means of a column of fire to give them light. Thus they could travel both day and night. Neither the column of cloud by day nor the column of fire by night ever left its place in front of the people. (Ex 13:21-22)
As they walked on conversing, a flaming chariot and flaming horses came between them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind. (2 Kin 2:11)
Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. (Acts2:3-4)
Of the angels he says: «He makes his angels winds and his ministers a fiery flame»; (Heb 1:7)
From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder. Seven flaming torches burned in front of the throne, which are the seven spirits of God. (Rev 4:5)
