and one of them [a scholar of the law] tested him by asking, «Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?» He said to him, «You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.» (Matt 22:35-40)
But the hour is coming, and is now here, when true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth; and indeed the Father seeks such people to worship him. God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and truth.» (John 4:23-24)
«If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, which the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you. By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. «I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. (John 15:7-12)
