(42) Slaves and friends.

I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father. It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you. This I command you: love one another. «If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you. Remember the word I spoke to you, ‘No slave is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. (John 15:15-20)

In pride the wicked hotly pursue the afflicted; let them be caught in the plots which they have devised. (Ps 9:23)

The wicked plots against the righteous and gnashes at him with his teeth. (Ps 37:12)

Better is the little of the righteous than the abundance of many wicked. (Ps 37:16)

The wicked borrows and does not pay back, but the righteous is gracious and gives. (Ps 37:21)

The wicked spies upon the righteous and seeks to kill him. (Ps 37:32)

Like a roaring lion or a ravenous bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people. (Prov 28:15)

When the just prevail, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan. (Prov 29:2)

The just man has a care for the rights of the poor; the wicked man has no such concern. (Prov 29:7)

Because of his affliction he shall see the light in fullness of days; Through his suffering,my servant shall justify many,and their guilt he shall bear.(Is 53:11)

Jesus said to them in reply, «Those who are healthy do not need a physician, but the sick do. I have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners.» (Luke 5:31-32)
