(123) Christ in our midst.

Where there are two and Christ,
Grief is divided by two,
Joy is multiplied by two.

  • Amen, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again, (amen,) I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.» (Matt 18:18-20)

  • Do not intercede on behalf of this people, nor utter a plea for them. I will not listen when they call to me at the time of their misfortune. (Jer 11:14)

  • Again I found this vanity under the sun: a solitary man with no companion; with neither son nor brother. Yet there is no end to all his toil, and riches do not satisfy his greed. «For whom do I toil and deprive myself of good things?» This also is vanity and a worthless task. Two are better than one: they get a good wage for their labor. If the one falls, the other will lift up his companion. Woe to the solitary man! For if he should fall, he has no one to lift him up. So also, if two sleep together, they keep each other warm. How can one alone keep warm? Where a lone man may be overcome, two together can resist. A three-ply cord is not easily broken. (Eccl 4:7-12)

  • The LORD God said: «It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him.» (Gen 2, 18)

  • That night the LORD said to Gideon, «Go, descend on the camp, for I have delivered it up to you. If you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with your aide Purah. When you hear what they are saying, you will have the courage to descend on the camp.» (Judg 7:9-11)

  • Jesus answered and said to him, «Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him. (John 14:23)

  • Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.» (John 20:23)
